Mosaic Small Groups: Building a Church of Connection

This past spring, God planted a vision in my heart: our church needed more spaces where people could be known, cared for, and challenged in their walk with Christ. Out of that vision, Mosaic Small Groups were born.

Since then, I’ve been amazed at how many of you have stepped in. From dinner tables to golf courses, from living rooms to classrooms, these small circles are already shaping the life of our church. Yet I believe this is only the beginning.

Why Small Groups?

Sunday mornings are powerful, but real transformation often happens in smaller circles. That’s where we share our stories, pray deeply, and form friendships that carry us through life’s ups and downs.

Small groups create the space for:

  • Authenticity — where you can be real and know others on a deeper level.

  • Spiritual growth — where faith becomes more than sermons, it becomes life lived together.

  • Mission — where new ministries are born out of relationships.

When we gather in groups, walls come down, connections form, and the church becomes a true family.

What’s Already Happening

Since launching this initiative, God has been faithful to multiply community in creative ways:

  • Tables of 8 – Once a month, eight people gather for dinner, fellowship, and conversation. It’s a simple idea that has helped people meet new friends and cross generational lines.

  • Thursday Golf Outings – Fellowship takes on a fun twist out on the course. Every week, groups tee off, share stories, and enjoy life together in a unique setting.

  • Men’s Fraternity – A growing brotherhood where men sharpen one another, grow spiritually, and strive to become the men God has called them to be.

  • The Gathering at My Place – Once a month, I open my home for food, fellowship, music, and encouragement. We sing favorites, read Scripture, and leave refreshed.

  • Widows Evolving (WE) – This group has been living out the heart of Mosaic before Mosaic even had a name. Together, these women have built a beautiful space of care, encouragement, and resilience.

  • Adult Bible Study with Linda Nichols – Week after week, Linda has faithfully led a study that is rich, engaging, and rooted in Scripture. It has become one of the strongest anchors of discipleship in our church.

Each of these expressions shows what can happen when people simply open their homes, their time, and their hearts.

Training the Next Leaders

This past season, we also met weekly for leadership training. Together, we prayed, studied, and prepared to multiply. Now, we are ready for the next wave of leaders to step up. We need more homes opened, more hearts willing, and more leaders ready to shepherd.

Why We Need More

Our church is growing—not just in numbers but in faith, hope, and love. And if we want to continue that growth, small groups are the way forward. They give every person a seat at the table and a place to belong.

Imagine the impact if every member of The Village Church found themselves in a group where they could be cared for, challenged, and sent out. Imagine the ministries that could be birthed out of those circles. Imagine the lives that could be changed.

Your Invitation

If you’ve been part of Mosaic already, thank you. Keep showing up, keep inviting, keep growing. If you haven’t yet joined a group, now is the time. And if you’ve ever considered leading, I want you to know—you are needed.

Open your home. Open your heart. God will do the rest. Together, let’s build a church that continues to grow in faith, hope, and love—and yes, even in numbers.

This spring was the beginning of something beautiful. The next chapter is waiting to be written. Will you help write it?
